10:24 AM Verses of poem from pre-sleep stage

Fall fast from reason
Expostulate till cheeks turn crimson

Fall hard, fast from glory
Not so swiftly you don’t live to tell this story

10:25 AM Concerning my impending travels, I’m trying hard not to form images in my mind of what I think it’ll be like. Before you know it these images give rise to all sorts of expectations which weigh you down so you’re no longer traveling as a nimble nomad.

12:39 PM What’s the bridge that fills the gap between the victims and the perpetrator (in the Virginia Tech case, for instance)? In my view it’s the families of both sides. I truly believe that both are suffering equally, and no matter how much letting go of blame and hatred or holding on of anger and vindication takes place, nothing will bring anyone back. All they can do is mourn, and the more they grieve together the stronger their healing will be.

3:50 PM My friend just raised a very interesting point about spouses in general and Eastern cultures specifically: It seems that after a couple gets married, somehow, whether consciously or otherwise, the wife tries to steer her immediate family’s attention and graces more toward her side of the family and away from her husband’s. My own family is an exception to this rule, but I’ve seen it in practically every other Indian family I know (including relatives), and my friend confirms it for his family and culture as well (which isn’t Indian).

11:59 PM Definitely my song of the day (I’ve listened to it over 10 times):

Someone falls to pieces
sleepin all alone
someone kills the pain
spinning in the silence
to finally drift away
someone gets excited
in a chapel yard
catches a bouquet
another lays a dozen
white roses on a grave

to be yourself is all that you can do
to be yourself is all that you can do

someone finds salvation in everyone
and another only fame
someone tries to hide themself
down inside himself he breathes
someone swears his true love
until the end of time
another runs away
seperate or united?
empty or insane?

to be yourself is all that you can do
to be yourself is all that you can do
to be yourself is all that you can do
to be yourself is all that you can do

even when you’ve had enough
been pulled apart
or been in love
every single memory of
could have been faces of love
don’t lose any sleep tonight
i’m sure everything will end up alright
you may win love

but to be yourself is all that you can do
to be yourself is all that you can do
