When they do clinical studies they can stratify side effects based on age, race gender etc. And they have found that certain antidepressants can increase suicidal ideation in children less than 18. I don't know the specifics of this particular antidepressant, but that is most probably the reason. This drug is actually just an isomer of an already existing drug that has a generic. So basically its a marketing gimmic. Yay pharma!

A pharmacist myself, I thought I would put my two cents into this one. I was thinking about what you wrote, and I think the following quote from author Tom Robbins is relevant here:<blockquote>"I think too much is known about me already. I think biographical information can get in the way of the reading experience. The interchange between the reader and the work. For example, I know far too much about Norman Mailer and Kurt Vonnegut. Because I know as much as I do about their personal lives, I can't read their work without this interjecting itself. So if I had it to do over, I'd probably go the way of J.D. Salinger or Thomas Pynchon. And just stay out of it altogether and let all the focus be on the work itself and not on me."</blockquote>Source: http://www.januarymagazine.com/profiles/robbins.html

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the comment.
