What would you do?

Imagine this:
You’re due to move into a new residence, and your significant other is sick and needs an operation. It’s a major and risky surgery, and there’s a chance they won’t make it. Do you bring to their attention your thought (which you already feel guilty for having but can’t seem to shake) that you shouldn’t move into that big house you’ve both been eyeing for a while until the outcome of the surgery is clear? Do you tell them that you won’t need the extra space if they don’t make it?

How would you respond if they bring it up over dinner or coffee one evening? Do you be practical or do you reassure them that they’ll make it not only with words but also with your act of signing on the dotted line for the big house?
