Frankly I’m surprised at the popularity of videos online. I can understand the appeal of entertainment videos – watching shows and movies online, but it’s the popularity of non-entertainment moving visual media that surprises me.

I’m surprised because I didn’t think people would be willing to sit through a video to get the information they are after. I know that I can skim through an article or text much faster to find what I’m seeking than sit through a video for the same information. I can search through text, which I can’t in a video. Granted there are certain things where a video is better, like in conveying instruction. But if I’m just after information like a news article or broadcast provides, why would I sit through a video when an article’s text could tell me what I need to know in much less time?

I don’t get it.

Windmill windmill for the land…

Song of the day

I’ve noticed that three of the Indian (and Pakistani) singers I’ve listened to recently all have really large vocal ranges. Here are a few songs by Kailash Kher, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and Atif Aslam.
